  • Letter from Principal Keville

    Greetings MMS Families,

I hope you are enjoyed your Spring Break! I had a busy break becoming a mother and welcoming my son into the world, so I have had my hands full. With the arrival of Jack, I will be taking maternity leave for a good part of the remainder of the school year, and Ms. Sandra Perez will be the Acting Principal in my absence. Ms. Perez has been with PS 191 for 15+ years, and I am more than confident that the school is in great hands with her at the helm. I will be in touch with Ms. Perez during my leave, and will be checking in on the school through her. Although I am thrilled to be a mother, I will most certainly miss our students and our school community during my absence.

Please enjoy the remainder of the school year, and I will look forward to seeing you upon my return.

    Warm regards,

    Lauren Keville

PTA Members:

Co-President: Alexa Perez-Velazquez

My name is Alexa Perez-Velazquez, and I am the proud mother of three sons and a female Shih Tzu. Jared is in Ms. Salas's and Ms. Hood's class 5th grade class. I have served as Class Parent and enjoyed volunteering at past school events. I'm excited to be serving as PTA Co-President and Class Parent this school year, 2016/17.  It is rewarding investing time toward the school community's growth. Outside of MMS/PS 191, I work full-time as a Relationship Support Associate at a bank. I understand the unrelenting demands of work, school, fitness, household chores or whatever your tasks may be - this is why support is key. I'm looking forward to engaging with all parents as we work to strengthen and grow our school together.

Co-President: Charles Taylor

My name is Charles Taylor and I am co-president of the 2016/17 PTA. I had the honor of serving as vice president last year. I work as a nonprofit funding consultant, but my true passion is my social justice artist collective that focuses on gentrification. Our dynamic new executive board is ready to partner with our principal, parents and families, school staff, students and community stakeholders, in maximizing our successes and eliminating our challenges. We plan to occupy our new school next year fully prepared with heightened academic achievement, an enriched school culture, and a cohesive school community. We plan to leave it all on the field this year.

Treasurer: Zenobia Petersen

My name is Zenobia Petersen, I am the treasurer of the 2016/2017 PTA. I am the mother of three intelligent and beautiful young ladies, two of which are students at MMS. I am looking forward to partnering with our parents to make this school year a phenominal success.

Secretary: Cathy Ramos

My name is Cathy Ramos and I am the Secretary for 2016/17. My daughter, Charyzma, is in the 8th grade. I am a former SLT member and an active PTA parent. I am very excited to be part of the team and look forward to working with all the parents of MMS. Together, we can support school staff in their efforts to improve student achievement and enrich school culture.
